Thoughts behind my personal work: The use of bold lines is said to be used to convey energy and interest in paintings. The boldness of large brush strokes signify confidence and movement. I definitely feel that the harsh but curving lines that I use have the same intent, but also represent connection. Some lines connect and some don’t, and these lines go in every direction. This reminds me, when I was a traditional artist (traditional meaning using canvas and acrylic paint.) I created these people like figures it would be a set of shoulders and a neck and instead of a head, I would make a puzzle piece. The puzzle pieces would always be colorful and different shapes and represented how everyone is different. However, even with our differences we are always looking for somewhere or some other person to connect too. Additionally I believe the main message I was trying to exhibit is that everyone fits somewhere; you are part of a puzzle in someone else’s life. You may never know where you fit but someone’s life may never be complete without you. I said all of that to say, these connecting/ flowing/ moving lines may have the same meaning. I just never thought the two things could connect.. ironically
